The once fruitful and glorious kingdom of Q'markaj has been overthrown by darkness. It has influenced all the five powerful mortals in the realm, including the King himself. Inhabitants of the kingdom have tried to find out why this has happened, only to never be seen again. Amongst all this, a young thief named Tepeu sets out to cleanse the kingdom of all the dark powers. His first goal is to free the once mighty Majin, a mythical behemoth. Thanks to Tepeu's gift of talking to animals of the kingdom, he'll receive helpful hints and advice on their journey.

Majin and The Forsaken Kingdom is at heart a puzzle adventure game with action elements. The vast kingdom of Q'markaj features enemies in all sizes and not all require brute force to defeat. The player controls Tepeu directly and can via orders command the Majin to interact with the environment or charge head first in battles. As the player progresses through the game more powers can be found through the means of fruit which the player has to find and give to the Majin. Only then will he be able to utilize these powers. In total there are four of them, including wind power and lightning. Besides the obvious new skillset to use in fights, these powers often provides ways to overcome new or existing obstacles.

Ultimately the goal is to get to the King which hides in the castle, however the door is protected by four seals. Each boss represent one of these seals and by defeating them their respective seals will break and more paths will unlock. Later in the game Tepeu and Majin will come over transportation rooms that quickly let's them cover much ground and travel more easily between specific sections in the kingdom.

The player often can choose how to approach certain situations, yet sometimes signposts and animals can give additional advice or clues as to what to expect or think of next.

Krisalis’ fourth licensed Manchester United game – the title refers to their success in winning both the Premier League and the FA Cup in the same (93-94) season –- something only six clubs have achieved.

The gameplay is overhead view, and has much in common with Kick Off, offering loose control, a range of moves, and an emphasis on short passing. It’s not easy at first, but persistence reaps rewards, especially with a two-button controller.

Making life easier is the Tacti-Grid tactics editor, which allowed you to customise tactics by instructing players on exactly where they go when the ball is in a particular position. The editor is the most comprehensive ever seen in an action football game, allowing you to rename players, change their appearance and skills, transfer them across clubs, move clubs around the divisions, change their kits, and more.
