More space combat and strategy in this sequel, which challenges you to collect the elements to form a bomb to destroy a resistance force, before delivering them through heavy fighting. Each planet has its own characteristics, with differing inhabitants and features.

As well as flying through space, you must dart through tunnels under the planets, which restricted your movement range but are where most of the weapons are. As you go along you'll have to obtain objects from people, and trade them so as to be able to complete your main objectives.

The biggest advance from the original Starglider was seen as the polygon graphics, which are filled on 16-bit systems, and contain considerable detail.

Starship Troopers

Do your part in war against the bugs as Elite Marauder in mobile infantry. You are given weapons like a Morita rifle, plasma rifle, shotgun and even a nuke launcher. You also get the Marauder suit that makes you much stronger than normal grunts, but puts you against hundreds of bugs without support. Remember, service guarantees citizenship. Join now!

Marauder has a armor that reloads when not attacked, various weapons and support units from time to time. The main difference is number of enemies. There are usually hundreds of arachnids attacking and while most of them can be killed easily, there are some like tanker bugs which take huge amount of damage. Next to the action-based missions, there is also some infiltration.

The game takes place five years after the events of the second film. The bugs are still rampaging across the surface of planet Hesperus which is mostly a desert planet, and most fights take place in canyons or Federation bases. There aren't any vehicles you can use, but there are some mounted guns to occupy. The game includes clips from the film in cinematics and mission briefings.

Starsky & Hutch

Starsky & Hutch is an arcade racing game based on the popular TV series from the 70s, released to tie in with the film. The game includes 18 missions, each based on an episode of the TV show and introduced by Antonio 'Huggy Bear' Fargas. There is also a free roaming mode, in which the player explores the GTA-esque environment looking for action and trouble.

Like the film, the game does not entirely play it straight. Starsky & Hutch are actually shooting a TV show, and the scoring for each mission reflects how ratings-friendly your driving is. You are awarded gold, silver or bronze medals for each mission depending on performance, and must get at least 1 gold and 2 silvers on season 1 for a second season to be commissioned, and 3 golds and 2 silvers in season 2 for there to be a third for you to play through.

The overall goal in each mission is usually to chase and destroy a criminal's car. There is always a secondary target as well. In addition, the player will gain viewers by hitting the bad guy, pulling off elaborate jumps and skids, nearly hitting civilians, and hitting the bonus targets such as canisters which are strewn through the levels. Hitting civilians will lose viewers.

Dave Starsky is the guy behind the steering wheel and Ken 'Hutch' Hutchinson shoots out of the windows of the car. On PS2 and XBox a second player can take care of the shooting, using either a light gun or a standard controller. During single player, the aiming is automatic for shooting.
