Tony Hawk's Pro Skater

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater PlayStation Front Cover Also a manual  Tony Hawk's Pro Skater PlayStation Back Cover

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater is a skateboarding simulation in which you control a famous skate star around 3D environments. Each game area contains a plethora of objects like ramps, rails, and half-pipes which can be used to perform tricks. Each trick you perform earns you more points for your score.

The game is divided into two types of levels. In the first, you skate around locations like a mall, a city street, or a warehouse. In each of these areas, there are 5 goals to complete. Some goals involve obtaining a high score, others smashing objects, and some collecting objects. For every goal you complete, you earn a video tape. By collecting enough video tapes, you unlock levels and skateboards for you to use. There are 6 levels like this. The second type of level is a competition. You get to make 3 timed runs through a skate park, and attempt to get the highest score possible. If you do well enough, you will beat the scores of the computer controlled skaters and win a medal. There are 3 levels like this.

There are nine real life pro skaters you can choose to play as, including Tony Hawk himself. Each skater has their own signature moves that earn you big points if pulled off successfully.

The sequel to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater adds many new tricks, while retaining those from the original, and a complete roster of the greatest skaters worldwide. Among the new tricks is the "manual", which allows the player character to balance on two wheels. There are also more options for scoring high-trick combos. Trick combinations can also be edited and customized. It is possible to visit some of the most popular skate parks in the world, or create own areas and share them with other players. Players can also create their own skaters, with a choice of clothing and official skateboards.

Tony Hawk returns with an all new line-up of skaters, an all new line-up of parks to crash through, and a whole new level of graphics.

The line-up of street and vert riders include Elissa Steamer, Jamie Thomas, Steve Caballero, Rune Glifberg, Geoff Rowley, Andrew Reynolds, Rodney Mullen, Eric Koston, Chad Muska, Bucky Lasek and Bam Margera from MTV's Jackass (and Tony Hawk, of course).

The create a skater mode returns, allowing for even further levels of options for your character, like adding glasses and tatoos to changing the colour of the knee and elbow pads or even the hair.

And the levels themselves that you must skate through are now more interactive, with cars and humans blocking paths and making noise as you race around to make as many points as possible. Use items around the streets or the park to jump from or over to increase your score, and pull of as many wild and wacky tricks as you can.
 Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 PlayStation 2 Front Cover  Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 PlayStation 2 Back Cover

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 is the fourth game in Activision's skateboarding franchise.

The main feature of this game is it's redesigned career mode. When beginning a level, you have all the time in the world to skate around, perform tricks, get a feel for the level, without the hassel of any goals or time limits. When you're ready to attempt a goal, simply find a pro skater, talk to him, then receive the goal, similar to Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX. Goals are similar to the previous games, such as collect SKATE, get a certain amount of points, transfer over this and grind that. There are new goals, however, such as collecting the word COMBO while doing one big combo. Miss a trick, and goal fails. Once all regular goals are accomplished, you can attempt the Pro Goal, which is specific to each skater, and is extremely hard.

All the major skaters are here, including Tony Hawk, Bob Burnquist, Steve Caballero, Kareem Campbell, Rune Gilfberg, Eric Koston, Bucky Lasek, Bam Margera, Rodney Mullen, Chad Muska, Andrew Reynolds, Geoff Rowley, Elissa Steamer and Jamie Thomas.

The levels are been expanded and are huge. Some of the levels include a college campus, a shipyard, and the infamous prison complex Alcatraz.

For multiplayer, all the favorite modes are back, from Graffiti and Trick Attack to Horse and King Of The Hill. New modes include Capture The Flag and Combo Mambo. THPS4 also supports System Link play, but not XBox Live.

The PlayStation 2 version offers everything from the XBox version, but also has online play, utilizing either your own network adaptor or the official one. The PS2 version also features a one level demo of Shaun Murray's Pro Wakeboarder, which is not featured on any other version of the game.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 Box Front

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 is an entry in the Tony Hawk skateboarding series. Following various spin-offs it is once again a main game after Tony Hawk's Proving Ground in 2007. The game continues the classic gameplay of the original games and lets players create a custom skater or choose one of the ten professional ones: Aaron Homoki, Andrew Reynolds, Chris Cole, David Gonzalez, Ishod Wair, Leticia Bufoni, Lizzie Armanto, Nyjah Huston, Riley Hawk and Tony Hawk. Returning from Tony Hawk's American Wasteland there is a Create-A-Park mode where custom skate parks based on five themes can be created and shared online as new levels.

In the main career mode eight environments are visited (Asteroid Belt, Bonfire Beach, Mega Park, Mountain, Rooftops, School III, The Berrics and The Bunker) with about 80 missions. Next to regular environments, the Asteroid Belt is an exotic location with a skate park on an asteroid belt in space and a different form of gravity. Levels are not open world, but set in closed locations like the first games in the series. By completing objectives such as locating objects, performing certain tricks or collecting letters, stars are earned to unlock new levels. At least fifteen stars need to be earned in the previous level, as they are not cumulative, to unlock a new level. When all missions in a single stage are completed on the highest, 'Sick' rating for three stars, Pro Challenges are unlocked. The other ratings are 'Am' (one star) and 'Pro' (two stars), awarded based on the performance. Objectives include collecting the five SKATE letters, or the five COMBO letters in one interrupted combo of tricks. Collectibles include VHS tapes, destructible swag crates and DVDs. Next to these main objectives there are secondary ones such as clearing a series of rings in a quick time, keeping the tricks going to prevent the skater's head from exploding, collecting ice-cream, lighting torches with a burning skateboard or pushing beach balls out of a swimming pool.

By completing levels stat points are earned used to upgrade the skater for various categories multiple times: grind, lip trick, manual, ollie, speed, special, spin and vert. Completing challenges provides new aesthetic options to customize the skaters. Skaters string together tricks and combos with flips, manuals, ollies, grinds, grabs, plants, aerial moves and more. Through successive uninterrupted moves a meter is filled up and when full new special moves become available, replacing the default tricks. Entirely new is the slam technique allowing skaters to dive down immediately in mid-air. Multiplayer, only for PS4 and Xbox One, allows for 20 skaters in a single level, challenging each other. Free skating is always done online. Players then start offline missions, leaving the free skating mode, or join a lobby to challenge the other skaters. In a special mode more unrealistic tricks are available and more visual effects are added to the skater's moves.
 Tony Hawk's Proving Ground

Proving Ground is a sequel to Tony Hawk's Project 8, this time letting the player be able to choose their own storyline by making different choices during the game with the ability to skate in Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington D.C. There are four different classes of skaters (Rigger, Hardcore, Career and Street), which influences the story's direction. It also features an expanded Nail-the-Trick system with moves such as Nail-the-Grab and Nail-the Manual, Bowl Carving, Aggro Push, Skate Checking, Climbing/Exploration, Environment Altering and Rig-a-Kit.

During the game the player can get advice from professional skaters to help mold their own created skater and learn new moves and tricks and has the ability to create their own skate park.

The game features online play where they can invite other skaters into their own created skate parks and show off trophies and achievements and skate against each other as well. Players can also create their own skate videos using a full feature video editor, choosing from various viewpoints and speeds and post them online to show other players.

You are a new skater in the city of L.A.. The main drive of the game is that your hanging around with a skating group and its leader, who also happens to be a skating legend, at their skate park in Beverly Hills called Skate Ranch. Throughout the game you must help your friends by getting skate pieces for Skate Ranch.

The game marks the third reinvention of the series, with Pro Skater being the first, and Underground being the second. It comes with brand new features like the ability to change your personal appearance in game, as well as the ability to get off of the skateboard and use a BMX. For the first time all of levels are strung together into one big environment, which gets rid of loading times and menu selection.

Old features were also kept like Create-a-park, which dates back to the Pro Skater series. Missions are still acquired by going up to random people or friends and accepting the mission they want you to run.

The game also includes a multiplayer mode and co-op for up to 2 players for added replay value.

 Tony Hawk's Underground

Tony Hawk's Underground PlayStation 2 Front Cover  Tony Hawk's Underground PlayStation 2 Back Cover

The fifth game in the series, Tony Hawk's Underground is the first game to have a true career mode.

You begin the game as a local skater whom nobody knows. Your board is wearing thin, and your tired of being a nobody. As your out skating, you see a flyer for a pro who's coming to your city to demo. You go to the skate demo and watch. Afterwards, you try to impress the pro, and he gives you advice on how to go about becoming a star. With your friend, Eric, you're now on your way to becoming a legend.

THUG takes you to various cities to perform different goals. You begin in New Jersey, which acts as a sort of training stage, where goals are simple. Eventually, you'll visit Manhattan, Vancouver, Moscow, Tampa, San Diego and Hawaii. Most cities are split into different chapters, with each chapter opening new goals.

THUG introduces a new system; walking. You can get off your skateboard to run or walk around the level. If there's a high tower you want to jump off of, get off your board, climb to the tower (by climbing a ladder or shuffling across a wire), get back on your board, and jump down. One of the new tricks associated with this is the Acid Drop, which can launch you off an opposing pipe, allowing you to pull off 1080's and up.

Also new to THUG is the ability to drive certain vehicles, like a gardener's truck, a sports car, or a leaf blower. These are used for goals, but can be unlocked to drive whenever and wherever.

Next to the standard Create-a-Park and Create-a-Skater, you can now create your own decks and your own tricks. The biggest feature is Create-a-Goal. You can create custom goals for one of the levels (or your own), and choose what pedestrian will give it to you, his/her dialogue, and what they'll say when you win.

The PlayStation 2 version supports online play.

It's Team Hawk against Team Bam in a no-holds-barred contest to gain the most points by performing insane stunts and raising havoc in cities all over the world.

THUG 2's story mode basically follows the same formula as THUG, in which you have to complete a number of goals before you can move on to the next city.

Re-introduced into the series is the "Classic Mode" wherein you have 2 minutes to complete as many goals as possible on any of THUG 2's levels and 6 remade classic levels.

THUG 2 has all-new unlockable characters, vehicles, levels.

All the Create-A-Modes from THUG are present, with the addition of the new Create-A-Graphic mode where you can make your own graffiti design with layers of text and predefined graphics, then use it to "tag up" during gameplay.

TOCA Race Driver 3
TOCA Race Driver 3 PlayStation 2 Front Cover  TOCA Race Driver 3 PlayStation 2 Back Cover

TOCA Race Driver 3 follows on from the ideas started in Race Driver 2. The game attempts to include as many different forms of four-wheeled racing in one game, as well as injecting each with a high degree of realism.

The game has over 70 licensed cars and 80 real tracks, as well as 35 different disciplines of racing.

There are two main gameplay modes. The World Tour mode has the player starting a racing career and, with the help of a Scottish manager, attempting to gain renown and acceptance into more famous racing events. There are 3D rendered cutscenes shown from the player's point-of-view, which move the story along and, while not as detailed as its predecessor, gives a good idea of the back scenes of a professional racer's life aside from just the racing. This mode includes mixtures from all the racing disciplines.

The second mode allows the player to choose one discipline and play a career focused on that choice. This mode has no back-story and longer, more realistic races.

TOCA Race Driver 3 provides two different driving models, Simulation and Pro-Simulation. The latter is recommended for gamers with analog steering wheels only. Simulation is intended for gamers without wheels, or who want an easier experience. This mode is also noticeably easier than the Simulation mode from TOCA Race Driver 2.

Tomb Raider
Tomb Raider PlayStation 3 Front Cover  Tomb Raider PlayStation 3 Back Cover

The young archaeologist Lara Croft is traveling on the ship Endurance together with a crew to locate the prehistoric Japanese kingdom of Yamatai and the secrets of the Sun Queen Himiko and her mystical powers. Against the group's advice, Lara presses on to go to the Dragon's Triangle, a location plagued by mysterious storms. When the ship is struck by one of the storms, everyone is stranded on a seemingly desolate island. Lara's task is to bring the crew back together and find out more about the island. She has to fight off the Solarii, a cult led by a mysterious person who has taken an interest in Lara's friend Samantha Nishimura.

Tomb Raider is the ninth game in the long-running series, serving as a complete reboot of the franchise and a prequel to it. Like the predecessors, it is an action-adventure game starring Lara Croft. Compared to previous entries, the gameplay has a number of differences. There is much more focus on stringing together stylized action sequences that involve shootouts and escaping through a crumbling environment, similar to the Uncharted series, and combat against human enemies. Animals are still present, but as a minor threat and largely to be hunted. The puzzle-solving object of moving objects to create paths to progress is toned down severely. Puzzles are still present, but mostly confined to using various tools on pre-determined objects. Optional areas can be discovered and accessed, but exploration is only possible within a series of interconnected hubs that eventually provide linear progression rather than an open world of contemporary titles such as Far Cry 3.

Lara gets to explore the island in a linear fashion through different areas. There is always a direct goal to reach, but in the meantime some parts can be explored freely. There is a forest, different abandoned towns, bunkers, and large temples. Lara can climb, duck, hang from ledges, use an axe to move up rocks, construct and use zip lines, and more. Goals can be highlighted by activating instinct. It renders the entire environment in monochrome, but lights up important objects, enemies and the goal for the current location. Each hub area consists of one or more camp sites that act as checkpoints. These can be used to fast travel and to spend skill points or upgrade gear. The entire environment can also be viewed through a mini-map. Next to the main gameplay there are many scripted sequences involving quick time events where Lara swims down a stream, parachutes through trees, runs over crumbling bridges and escapes burning buildings. These often have different camera perspectives and require quick reflexes. There is no health bar, but the screen fades in shades of grey when Lara is hurt. When taking cover, health is restored automatically over time.

The action element is stronger in this title, and combat portions are much more extensive. Lara can wield various weapons such as a pistol, a shotgun and a rifle. Her most important weapon is the bow. It is used to attack from a distance, with optional flame arrows, but can also be used to distract enemies and construct makeshift bridges. There is a cover mechanic used for stealth and activated automatically when near to an object. The many opponents can be taken out from a distance, targeting specific body parts, or from up close with melee attacks and finishers. Opponents leave behind additional ammo. The different weapons can be upgraded at base camps along with various modifications. The resources for these are gathered through salvage, by looting enemies or locating crates in the environment. Experience points can be converted into skill points at base camps in three categories: Survivor, Hunter and Brawler, with different tiers for each. Upgraded weapons provide new and better options and the same goes for skills. Lara for instance learns how to dodge attacks, spot objects in the environment, or distract opponents with sand. She also has a torch to lighten up dark environments and fire plays an important role in some of the puzzles.

There is a large amount of optional treasure hunting. Each area contains a number of documents, relics and GPS caches than can be discovered for additional experience points. There are also separate challenges for each area such as burning flags, stealing eggs or destroying specific objects. Completion progress can be tracked in the map screen. Later on, by using instinct and a high tier of survivor skills, spotting hidden objects becomes easier. True to the series' origins, there is a number of optional, isolated tombs that resemble those of the earlier games. These separate locations are set in a small, closed environments and require more puzzle-solving than usual to locate and steal the treasure.

Online multiplayer for up to eight players is present with different characters to choose from. There is an overall experience system where leveling up is rewarded with new weapons and skills. Before each game a load-out can be defined through different elements. Next to free-for-all and team deathmatch, it includes the team-based modes Rescue and Cry for Help. They pit the Survivors against Scavengers. In Cry for Help the Survivors need to activate radio transmitters scattered around the map and keep them online, while the Solarii disrupt the process and need to steal batteries. In Rescue the Survivors gather medical supplies while the Solarii attempt to stop them.

TKO : Super Championship Boxing

A boxing game featuring a Championship mode and a 1 or 2 player exhibition match mode.

In the Championship mode, players choose from 1 of the 8 available boxers, and then compete against the other 7 boxers on the road to try becoming the World Champ. Players go toe to toe with their opponents in the boxing ring in 3 minute rounds. The boxers can throw hooks and jabs at each other with the sole intention to knock their opponent down to the canvas by draining all their energy by landing those punches. Each punch thrown costs the boxer some stamina which is indicated by boxing glove icons. If all the boxers stamina is drained, they can no longer throw punches for a little while until they gain some of their stamina back. After each fight is over, players go to the gym to train in various different exercises like skipping rope and bench pressing weights. These exercises increase the players boxer in various areas like speed and power.

Options include setting the number of rounds (from 1 to 10) and setting the difficulty level (novice, advanced, and expert).

The original Japanese version is slightly different featuring a "glorious mode" (story mode) in which the player controls an unique boxer. The characters are also different, among few other minor differences.

TMNT
TMNT PlayStation 2 Front Cover  TMNT PlayStation 2 Back Cover

Cowabunga! Take control of your favourite turtle ninjas as you play through the events of the 2007 CGI movie. Leonardo returns from his meditation in South America to find his family in disarray, and crime on the rise in New York. A mysterious figure calling himself the "Nightwatcher" has turned up, and a shadowy rich man named Winters seems to be in cahoots with the remnants of the Foot Clan. Only the Ninja Turtles can clean up the streets!

TMNT is an action game, similar to Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Play as Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raphael and Donatello, swapping on the fly and using special co-operative moves to help your brothers in battle. Each turtle, being a ninja, can perform moves like double jumping, running along and up walls, gripping onto tiny cracks in the walls, and jumping from wall to wall to scale dizzying heights. Most of the game is spent making your way to the next destination by using your ninja moves to explore New York. Each character also has their own special move: Leo can traverse through walls, Raph can use his Sais to scale particular surfaces, Mikey can use his Nunchucks as helicopters to float for a short period, and Don can pole vault across long gaps with his Bo Staff.

Sometimes, battles will occur - in these situations, you'll be locked in an arena and must battle all your enemies before you can move on. Battling is a simple affair - you can use one button for standard attacks (charge it for a more powerful one), and another button for light attacks that push enemies away. If your fellow turtles are with you, you can also hold down your character swap button for a tandem co-op attack. Some levels will allow you to play as the Nightwatcher - he fights similarly to the Turtles, except that as the more he fights, the more his 'rage' builds, which can cause a devastating surrounding attack when fully charged. The Wii version of the game controls similarly to all other versions, except that gestures are used for attacking instead of button presses.

The basic goal for each level is to get to the end. At the end of each level, you're graded on the following attributes: your speed, your combat, and the amount of coins collected. In levels where you work with your brothers, you'll also be graded on how well you worked together. Succeed in a these attributes, and you'll earn turtle coins which can be used to purchase unlockables. If you get an A Rank or higher in a level, you'll also unlock a Challenge Map, which can be played to earn even more turtle coins. Finally, once you've played any level at least once, turtle coins will appear in hard-to-reach spots for you to collect.

TNN Bass Tournament of Champions

TNN Bass Tournament of Champions is a standard fishing game in the vein of Super Black Bass where the player competes in a series of tournaments on six different lakes with a set of rules and regulations in an attempt to become fishing world champion.

Like many other fishing games, the player can choose from a variety of lures and search for a fishing spot through a top-down view utilizing a fish finder. Once the player finds a suitable spot, they then can cast their lure and attempt to catch as many fish as possible, but also avoid snagging their lines or make them to tight and snap from the tension.

Players must also contend with changing weather conditions that can either help or hinder their time out on the lake and fish will react true to their real-life counterparts. It also features a license from TNN (The Nashville Network).
