Tekken

 

 The powerful fighter Heihachi Mishima throws his five-year-old son Kazuya off a cliff, saying that the child will survive the fall if he is truly his son. The fatally wounded boy is approached by the Devil, who offers him his life and a chance to become a fearsome fighter in exchange for his soul. Determined to get even with his father, Kazuya agrees. Twenty-one years later Heihachi, now the head of a corrupt corporation, organizes a fighting championship his son is eager to join.

Tekken is a versus fighting game similar in concept to Virtua Fighter. Besides Kazuya, other fighters of the tournament all have their own range of moves, something to prove, and a reason for any combat opponent to fear them. For example, Nina Williams is a trained assassin, Yoshimitsu is a robotic recreation of a ninja, and Marshall Law aims to set up a fighting school to pass on his knowledge.

As one of these eight figures, the player must come through fights in a 360-degree 3D environments with texture mapped backdrops and polygon graphics. After beating the seven rivals there are two bosses to beat. There are three difficulty levels, and fight lengths and number of rounds can be varied.

Each limb's movement is controlled with a different button, making finding the right combos a matter of instinct and planning rather than experimentation. Pure martial arts inspire most of the moves. Tekken also introduced the ability to dodge an opponent's attack to versus fighting games, made possible by the 3D perspective. The slow-motion replay of the final moves allows the player to see where and what went right or wrong.

 

Tekken 2

 

 Heihachi Mishima, the head of the powerful Mishima Zaibatsu, has been dethroned and defeated by his son Kazuya, backed and possessed by the Devil himself. Under his leadership, the organization has grown even more corrupt, and is involved in illegal animal experiments. An animal rights activist named Jun Kazama is sent to confront Kazuya. Meanwhile, Heihachi is plotting to overthrow his son. In attempt to draw his father out, Kazuya organizes the second King of the Iron Fist tournament.

The follow-up to Tekken is a versus fighting game featuring similar mechanics, with four buttons assigned to left and right punches and kicks. New moves include back throws, chain-throws, and a sidestep unique to Kazuya and Heihachi Mishima. Tackles now inflict damage depending on the distance.

The game also introduces three new gameplay modes: Survival, Team Battle and Time Attack mode. Survival mode is an endless series of matches, keeping track of the number of opponents the player defeats and not restoring the controllable character to full health after each battle. Team Battle is a two-player mode with up to eight selectable characters. Time Attack offers the opportunity to establish records in timed combat.

Tekken 3

 

 Tekken Force, a paramilitary organization protecting the Mishima karate fighters, is nearly obliterated by the might Ogre. Heihachi Mishima's only hope is his grandson Jin Kazama, who lives with his mother Jun, unaware of his legacy. When Ogre attacks his home and presumably kills his mother, Jin seeks out his grandfather and learns the martial arts of the family. On his nineteenth birthday, Heihachi announces the King of the Iron Fist Tournament 3, hoping to use Jin to remove Ogre out of his way.

Tekken 3 is a versus fighting game similar to its predecessors in the series. Differences include prominently featured side-stepping, allowing characters to retreat into the background and back during fights, new combo throws, and reduced jumping capabilities aiming for more realistic combat. Fifteen new characters have been added to the roster. Also included are two minigames, Tekken Force (a beat-em-up stage that unlocks a new character) and Tekken Ball, a beach volleyball variant where characters are hurt by the ball.

 

Tekken 4

 

 The former fighting champion and corrupt oligarch Heihachi Mishima is attempting to achieve immortality. To do so, he needs the Devil gene, possessed by both his son Kazuya, whose body is stored in the labs of the G Corporation, and his grandson Jin. However, Heihachi's Tekken Force is defeated by the resurrected Kazuya. Meanwhile, Jin goes into a self-imposed exile. In order to lure Kazuya and Jin out, Heihachi announces the fourth King of the Iron Fist championship, the final prize being the ownership of his corporation.

Tekken 4 contains twenty playable characters, four of whom are new. New strategies in fighting are introduced with the addition of walls, terrain effects, position changes, and enhanced side-stepping. In total there are nine gameplay modes, including a new Training mode and the Tekken Force game.

Tekken 5

 

 The mysterious G Corporation launches a full-scale attack involving military helicopters and combat cyborgs on the building Heihachi and Kazuya Mishima were in during the final scene of the previous game. Kazuya betrays his father and escapes, while Heihachi is presumably killed. However, the Mishima Zaibatsu continues operating as usual under undisclosed leadership. When the fifth King of the Iron Fist tournament is announced, both Kazuya and his son Jin enter in in an attempt to solve the mystery.

Tekken 5 is a versus fighting game that reduces the unusual stage design elements introduced in its immediate predecessor, thus resembling earlier installments. Five new characters join the growing regular cast, and the special modes from the previous games return, with the addition of a platforming ("Devil Within") and fighting minigames starring Jin Kazama in a sub-story of his own. Also new to the series is the ability to customize the characters with colored outfits, additional costumes, and items that can be bought with money gained in the fights and equipped.

Tekken 6

 

 This is the sixth incarnation of the long running fighting game series. After winning the last King of Iron Fist tournament and taking over Mishima Zaibatsu, Jin Kazama started to develop into a tyrant and turns Mishima Zaibatsu into a superpower, severs all links with other nations and goes to war with them. To end this war, Lars Alexandersson, a soldier in the Tekken Force, starts a rebellion and brings about the end of Mishima Zaibatsu.

The gameplay of Tekken 6 runs along the same lines of previous Tekkens. Players start by picking their character, who they will use throughout the King of Iron Fist tournament. In each round of the tournament, the first combatant to reach two K.O.'s is declared winner, although this can be extended to five. If neither player is victorious by the time the round timer reaches zero, whoever has the most health will be declared the winner. Tekken 6 come with gameplay enhancements that include improved character customization and a new feature called "Rage" that improves the damage a player can do when their health gets below a certain point. There are also six new playable characters.

Multiplayer features standard fights, which can be played online through Xbox LIVE and PSN.

Taxi 2

 

 Taxi 2 is a driving game, based on Luc Besson's movie. Both movie and video game share the same title.

Taxi 2 features two game modes. The "story mode" follows the scenes from the movie and allows you to select from five missions. When a mission is completed, you can save your progress, but also play it in the "arcade mode". In this mode, you will face the same competitor, Jean-Louis Schlesser ! The objective is no longer specific to each mission, but is to win the race, after several laps. In this mode, you will not have to care about the temperature gauge, since it is removed from arcade mode.

Team USA Basketball

 

 The 1992 edition of Electronic Arts' basketball series centers on the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona and features the original US "Dream Team" with such legendary players as Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, David Robinson, John Stockton, Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing and Karl Malone.

In addition to the US team there are 13 other national teams with real team rosters. There is also an "All-World" team with the best of the non-US players.

The game engine and gameplay mechanics are reused from the previous games in the NBA Playoffs series. There are new signature moves and the game features the international rules.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

 

 With April O'Neil held hostage by The Shredder's thugs, Bebop and Rocksteady, once again, it's up to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to come to her rescue! Play as all four of the turtle heroes, rescue April, and then rescue your sensei Splinter from Mecha-Turtles clutches, and then go after The Shredder deep in the bowels of The Technodrome itself.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is an action game based on the late eighties/early nineties cartoon series of the same name. Play as Leonardo, Michaelangelo, Donatello and Raphael (one turtle only, but the ability to swap between turtles at any time) as you save your friends and battle The Shredder and his cronies. There are no 'lives', as such - when you lose a turtle, he becomes 'captured', and you cannot use him again until you rescue him from a place hidden in the overworld.

Gameplay takes place in two perspectives: a top-down view, which lets you run around and explore buildings, sewers and other places. When entering places from the top-down view, the perspective shifts to a side-scrolling view, where most of the battling takes place. In addition to each turtle's main weapon, sub-weapons (such as shuriken) can be acquired, to use at foes - these have a limited use.

Teenage Mutan Ninja Turtles : Turtles in Time  

 Doesn't this Shredder dude ever take a break? Now he's gone and "kidnapped" the Statue of Liberty itself, and just as the Ninja Turtles were about to kick his butt, he tore open some kinda time portal thingy and flung them back into the past!

Now Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michaelangelo have to fight their way through time and tons of Foot Soldiers, mutant wackos, and more in order to bring liberty back and slam Shredder's butt all the way to Dimension X! Go, Turtles! Kick some shell and save us!

Teen Titans

 

 Teen Titans is based on the cartoon of the same name. Players control the five team members: Robin, Cyborg, Raven, Starfire and Beast Boy and can switch between them at any time. Each character has a unique set of powers and moves. In addition to the standard combos, in co-op modem characters can perform team moves together for added damage. There are power-ups to be found through the game which speed the world slow it down, increase your attack, etc. The game is set up as a series of levels and after completing a level, each heroes' abilities are upgraded.

The Titans receive a video game in the mail, but find themselves trapped inside when they try to play it. They must battle their way through many enemies, including bosses drawn from the show, to escape.

There is also a multiplayer mode which works something like a four-player fighting game. This can be played against bots or with other humans. In addition to the Titans themselves, you can play as the bosses from single-player or more than a dozen other characters from the show that are unlocked by finding hidden items in story mode.

Taekwondo

 

 Taekwon-Do is based on the real life martial art taekwondo, using its real attacks and tournament rules. Each character (there are 19) has his own specialties and the player can create their own personalized fighter (selecting their abilities, aspect, precedence, etc...).

Controlling a fighter is done by inputting controls for attacks, with the different attacks being toggled just by pressing a direction on the controller and a button (forward + B for example). There are four game modes: Tournament, V.S, Tag battle by turns, and Practice. This game offers a language selection for either Japanese or Korean.

the Taking of Beverly Hills

 

 The taking of Beverly Hills is an adaptation of the action movie with the same name. The main events of the game are set in Beverly Hills famous of its rich residents. The truck with toxic ingredients crashed on one of the crossroads with Rodeo Dr., and all citizens were evacuated to the Hotel until the National Guard arrives. All except two - football player Boomer Hayes and his girlfriend Laura Sage. Robbers led by the head of L.A. football team, Robert Masterson, want to steal the priceless Botticelli Fresco and kill Boomer, but Boomer wants to stop the robbery and bring Masterson to justice, while evading ex-cops and the hired thug Benitez, who has commandeered a SWAT tank and is gunning for him.

Switching between Laura and Boomer, the player has to re-create the main events of the movie, carefully walking through Beverly Hills, collecting inventory items, and using them with 'USE' and 'HIDE' commands. Point of view changes between top-down to side-scrolling or first-person when the player enters important places. Boomer's inventory includes a diskette, which allows to save or load the game. Every death of any character means the end of the game and exit to the operating system.

In the beginning, Boomer has to visit the police station to acquire the empty gun, the vest protecting him from bullets of ex-cops and the radio transmitter to have a window to outer world. As Laura, the player explores a hotel to take a useful key. The next actions of the main characters include three main goals of the game:

1. Free the real cops from the fire station.
2. Rescue the Botticelli fresco.
3. Save Laura from Masterson after she is captured.

Action elements of the game include evading enemies with machine-guns, and moving fast on the streets to avoid getting killed.

Task Force 1942

 

 The year 1942 is the subject of many computer games that deal with World War II. The reason: this was the year that many pivotal battles were fought including Midway, Stalingrad, N. Africa, and... Guadalcanal. This game deals with the desperate battles fought in the Solomon Islands, specifically in and around the island of Guadalcanal, in which the Allies tried to stop the Japanese from their drive to Australia.

In TF42, you can play as either the Americans or Japanese. All the major ships that participated are represented, including the infamous Yamato and devastating Iowa. It features individual historical battles, as well as the whole Guadalcanal Campaign.

The objective in the Campaign is to take over both bases on Guadalcanal, but as you are the Naval commander, you do not have direct control over the land battle. Your main objective is to keep the marines on Guadalcanal supplied and bring reinforcements to them, to shell the enemy base, and to stop the enemy from bringing supplies and reinforcements to their troops. These 3 tasks are accomplished by assigning the ships available to you into Task Forces and Task Groups, and send them on Patrol, Supply, and Bombard missions. More ships become available as time progresses.

The game has a strategic mode in which you can order your fleets around and monitor the overall situation, and a tactical mode in which two fleets meet and you can actually command the battle in real-time and "jump into" any ship and fire the guns or torpedos.

You also have air support. The planes can patrol or, if you have fighters/dive bombers/torp bombers available, attack enemy fleets! The air units and amounts of planes available to you change as they did in the actual war.

You can create your own "Dream Matchups": Yamato vs. Iowa; North Carolina vs. Nagato; A group of New Orleans Heavy Cruisers vs. small but fast and deadly torpedo-armed Japanese destroyers... all the ships are available.
